Warner Bros. Digital Distribution

Founded: October 2005

WARNER BROS. DIGITAL DISTRIBUTION, part of the Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Group, oversees the electronic distribution of Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Group’s content through Video-On-Demand, Pay-Per-View, Electronic Sell-Through and Subscription Video-On-Demand via cable, satellite, online and mobile channels. WBDD also distributes content through third party digital retailers and licensees. A worldwide industry leader since its inception, WBDD manages the Studio’s e-commerce sites that include WBShop.com and WarnerArchive.com

WBDD is further charged with managing the Studio's retail and consumer transition of product produced by Warner Home Video and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment from a purely packaged distribution scheme to one that supports both packaged and digital distribution, as well as both standard and high definition formats.

In May 2011, WBHEG acquired Flixster one of the world's top sites for movie information and socializing, with over 40 million apps downloaded to date. In the fall of that year, WBDD and Flixster rolled out a cloud-based digital buy-and-store system for films and television programs. Combining Flixster's consumer interface with the access technology UltraViolet, WBDD is driving this platform designed to reinvigorate ownership of both packaged media and digital content.
