Warner Home Video

Founded: 1980

With distribution in 90 international territories––more than any other studio––WARNER HOME VIDEO commands the largest distribution infrastructure in the global video marketplace. In 2010, Warner Home Video dominated the U.S. market as the number one company in total sell-through video (DVD and Blu-ray combined) with 20.6% marketshare, theatrical catalog, TV on DVD, non-theatrical family and animation, Blu-ray and VOD. WHV has been the number one studio in overall DVD sales 14 consecutive years, and is also the leading studio in the international home video space.

WHV’s film library is the largest of any studio, offering top quality new and vintage film titles from the repertoires of Warner Bros. Studios, Castle Rock Entertainment, Turner Entertainment, the classic MGM library and select titles from RKO, HBO Home Video, New Line Home Video, Redbus Films (in the U.K.) and BBC Video (in North America). In addition to releasing current and library feature films, WHV has also established itself as a leading distributor of rental and sell-through titles in all specialty categories.

With Toshiba, WHV spearheaded the development of DVD and holds several enabling patents. In the U.S., since the format’s launch in 1997, some 277 million DVD players have been sold, and software shipments in the U.S. and Canada have exceeded 11.5 billion units.
