Diane Nelson serves as President of DC Entertainment (DCE) and President & Chief Content Officer of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment (WBIE).
As President of DC Entertainment, Nelson is charged with leading the efforts to fully realize the power and value of DC Entertainment’s rich portfolio of stories and characters, including such cultural icons as Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman, across all media and platforms, while strategically integrating the DC Comics, Vertigo and MAD brands deeply into Warner Bros. Entertainment and all its content and distribution businesses.
As President & Chief Content Officer of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, Nelson has the additional responsibilities of overseeing the development, production and marketing of all video game titles for WBIE, including those based on DC characters, as well as other Warner Bros. properties and original IP. With a portfolio that includes TT Games, Rocksteady Studios, NetherRealm Studios, Turbine, WB Games Montreal, WB Games San Francisco and Monolith Productions, WBIE is an award-winning, worldwide publisher, developer, licensor and distributor of entertainment content for the interactive space across all current and future platforms, including console, handheld and PC-based gaming for both internal and third party game titles.
Since Nelson assumed her leadership post at DC Entertainment in 2009, the comic book publisher has enjoyed an extensive roster of multimedia successes, including the widely acclaimed relaunch of the entire line of DC Comics comic books and the establishment of same-day-digital comics on all platforms. Under Nelson’s guidance, DCE has also partnered with Studio colleagues on blockbuster video games, the development of new television projects, including Arrow, MAD and the DC Nation programming block on Cartoon Network, hugely popular feature films, including Man of Steel and the upcoming, first-ever pairing of Batman and Superman on the big screen, and a host of other impressive headline-making initiatives – all sparking Ad Age to name DC Entertainment one of America’s Hottest Brands.
Prior to her current post, Nelson served as President, Warner Premiere, developing and producing direct-to-dvd feature films and short-form digital content for Warner Bros. Pictures and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment’s distribution businesses. She was also Executive Vice President, Global Brand Management for Warner Bros. Entertainment, a group she started in 2005 in order to continue the cross-company brand management work she began on the Harry Potter property in 2000, expanding efforts to include such iconic films as Batman Begins, Superman Returns, Polar Express, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Happy Feet.
Nelson transitioned into this cross-company role from her position as Executive Vice President of Domestic Marketing for Warner Bros. Pictures. She has held a number of other positions within the Studio, having joined the company in 1996 as Director of Worldwide Corporate Promotions.
Nelson came to the Studio from Walt Disney Records, where she served as Director of National Promotions.
Active in philanthropy, Nelson is at the helm of DC Entertainment’s WE CAN BE HEROES, a multi-faceted giving campaign designed to raise awareness and funds by leveraging the Justice League characters and global recognition to fight hunger in the Horn of Africa.
In addition, Nelson serves on the Board of the Boulder, Colorado-based There with Care, a non-profit organization that supports families with children affected by critical illness.
Nelson is a graduate of Syracuse University's Newhouse School of Communications.
