Powerless: Season 1
Do you remember when that super-famous Super Hero had that massive battle with the epically evil Super-Villain that leveled most of the city? Of course you do. Do you remember the insurance team that had to straighten it all out afterwards? Not so much. Emily Locke is a young claims adjuster at RetCon Insurance Co. in Charm City, a region of the DC Universe filled with super-powered heroes in capes and uber-villains in cowls, but also a population of day-to-day bystanders without powers. Like the guy with the hot dog cart who's trying to get to work, except now the news has reported that there's a giant alien starfish blocking his morning commute. Sure, Charm City may have the Global Guardians (a group of international Super Heroes) to protect it from extraterrestrial annihilation, but who will protect us from them?
Although she can't fly or shoot lasers from her eyes, Emily makes a difference in people's lives by helping them with their insurance needs. That's her act of heroism. Her job is complicated by new iron-fisted boss Del Heller, the middle-aged son of the CEO who's after the one thing his money couldn't buy—respect. Working alongside Emily is her cubicle neighbor/sidekick Teddy and Del's frustrated, hero-worshipping assistant, Jackie. So while the world outside is a Super Hero battleground with Crimson Foxes and explosions, the real world of this workplace comedy with a twist is the power struggle of these average people who have no powers. As Emily rises out of relative obscurity to become an office hero, she'll have to battle her hardhearted boss along the way before her fortunes change. Sure, it's a Super Hero world and we're just living in it, but this first comedy set in the DC Universe is out to prove that you don't need to have powers to be powerful!
