BBC Names Top 100 American Films of All-Time
25 From the Warner Bros. Film Library Make the List
Last week the BBC announced its own list of The 100 Greatest American Films and 25 of them are from the illustrious Warner Bros. Film Library (including five in the Top Ten!) with Orson Welles' immortal Citizen Kane topping the list at #1.
The BBC said that eligible films only had to have received funding from a U.S. source. Critics taking part were from all over the world, from the United Kingdom and continental Europe to South America, Australia, India and the Middle East—and of course the United States. With so many Oscar winners not being included, the BBC list is creating quite a lot of controversy among critics and fans alike, but that's why we love these lists: It gets people talking about movies, and that's what it's all about!
Below are the 25 films from the Warner Bros. Film Library which made the list, along with their ranking. We've also pulled together clips and original theatrical trailers for you to discover or re-discover these classics!
