Release Date: Friday November 9th, 2018
Grammy and Emmy Award winner and multiple Oscar nominee James Newton Howard (Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, The Hunger Games franchise) returned as the Fantastic Beasts composer, creating a robust, 25-track soundtrack which will be available to stream and purchase digitally November 9, 2018. Fans are able to hear two of those tracks early, as WaterTower Music has just released both “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald” and “Salamander Eyes” for streaming and purchase.
In addition to the score, the soundtrack will treat fans to three solo piano cues performed by James Newton Howard and not heard in the film: “Dumbledore’s Theme (Solo Piano)”, “Fantastic Beasts Theme (Solo Piano)” and “Leta’s Theme (Solo Piano).”
“To work on Fantastic Beasts is a wonderful musical opportunity,” describes composer James Newton Howard. “The movie is delightful, substantial, and complex; and [director] David Yates focuses very seriously on the music and is a truly passionate and enthusiastic collaborator.”

January 16 Update
A few more clues have been released with the unveiling of two new photos from The Crimes of Grindelwald. We already know the city of Paris will be featured heavily in the next Fantastic Beasts film and here we find Newt either receiving or sending a postcard from the City of Lights.
In the second photo, Newt and Tina are reunited and both have updated their style. Newt has forgone his blue wool overcoat in favor of a dark gray version with leather accents and Tina has a more modern bob-style haircut with fringe bangs and a belted leather trench.
The duo appears to be ducking out of trouble (unsurprisingly). But where? And why?
January 2 Update
Fans received a late holiday treat last week when new images were released from the Wizarding World showcasing the cast of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them: The Crimes of Grindelwald.
The film reunites Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander with his cohorts from the first Beasts film: Dan Fogler as Jacob, Katherine Waterston as Tina and Alison Sudol as Queenie (no word yet if we'll see a return of the Niffler, but our fingers are crossed). Also on board and returning for the second installment are Johnny Depp as the title character, the Dark Wizard Gellert Grindelwald and Ezra Miller as Credence. Newcomers to the series include Jude Law as a young Albus Dumbledore, Claudia Kim as Maledictus, Zoë Kravitz as Leta Lestrange and Callum Turner as Theseus Scamander.
Warner Bros. Pictures’ Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald is the second of five all-new adventures in J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World™.
At the end of the first film, the powerful Dark Wizard Gellert Grindelwald (Johnny Depp) was captured by MACUSA (Magical Congress of the United States of America), with the help of Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne). But, making good on his threat, Grindelwald escaped custody and has set about gathering followers, most unsuspecting of his true agenda, to raise pure-blood wizards up to rule over all non-magical beings.
In an effort to thwart Grindelwald’s plans, Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law) enlists his former student Newt Scamander, who agrees to help, unaware of the dangers that lie ahead. Lines are drawn as love and loyalty are tested, even among the truest friends and family, in an increasingly divided Wizarding World.
The film features an ensemble cast led by Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, with Jude Law and Johnny Depp. The cast also includes Zoë Kravitz, Callum Turner, Claudia Kim, William Nadylam, Kevin Guthrie, Carmen Ejogo and Poppy Corby-Tuech.
Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald is directed by David Yates, from a screenplay by J.K. Rowling. The film is produced by David Heyman, J.K. Rowling, Steve Kloves and Lionel Wigram.
Slated for release on November 16, 2018, the film will be distributed worldwide in 2D and 3D in select theatres and IMAX by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.
