“Believers” DVD From Warner Home Video
(June 21, 2007 - Burbank, CA) — The countdown begins to the release of "BELIEVERS," the third film in the successful Raw Feed franchise series, debuting on October 16 from Warner Home Video. Directed and co-written by Daniel Myrick (co-creator of "The Blair Witch Project") "BELIEVERS" is a modern day psychological thriller that gives a chilling glimpse into the lives of a doomsday cult.
"BELIEVERS" features a talented ensemble cast including Johnny Messner ("Anacondas: The Hunt for Blood Orchid," "Running Scared"), Jon Huertas (“CSI: Las Vegas,” “Cold Case”), Deanna Russo ("Rest Stop," “CSI: Las Vegas”), Saige Ryan Campbell (upcoming "Lime Salted Love," "I ♥ Huckabees") and Daniel Benzali (“Law & Order,” “NYPD Blue”).
Prior to its release on DVD, "BELIEVERS" will open this summer’s Solstice Film Festival in St. Paul, Minnesota (June 21 – 24), which showcases the best independent films of 2007. On May 18 Daniel Myrick, Johnny Messner, Deanna Russo and Saige Ryan Campbell participated in a panel discussion at the Burbank Fangoria Weekend of Horrors Convention, one of the largest and most highly anticipated genre-related events of the year.
“I’ve always been fascinated by cults, and what motivates people to join,” said Myrick, director and co-writer of "BELIEVERS." “This film takes you into one of the most important days in these people’s lives. The result is an eerie glimpse into a completely different belief system, and different type of cult than we’ve ever seen before.”
“'BELIEVERS' is a unique, compelling, and frightening film. It’s no wonder that it emanates from the mind of one of the co-creators of 'The Blair Witch Project,'” said Jeff Baker, WHV Senior VP and General Manager for Theatrical Catalog. “The film compliments the first two Raw Feed films and will hopefully build on the Raw Feed experience for viewers. The first two films have performed well at retail, each selling more than 300K units, and the most recent release Sublime has been in the top 10 Non-theatrical rental charts for the past 12 weeks.”
Synopsis
While on duty, David Vaughn (Messner) and Victor Hernandez (Huertas), two emergency paramedics receive a call from a young girl whose mother has lost consciousness in a deserted area, but they soon discover that the life they have to save may be their own. Kidnapped and locked in an isolated building, David tries to discover the truth behind a secret cult and their beliefs. As Victor’s beliefs are challenged and the fine-line between religion and science are crossed, David must find a way to escape before “they” get him.
In a society where beliefs in religion and beliefs in science are constantly challenged, "BELIEVERS" explores the manipulative measures some use to take advantage of lost souls.
