“Change Of Heart” Starts Production On A New Coast With A New Host
(July 9, 2001 – New York, NY) - “Change of Heart,” the show that revitalized the relationship genre for a whole new generation of viewers, has begun production at its new home in New York City. The show moved to New York this season to take advantage of the areas untapped pool of young singles. In addition to the move to the Big Apple, the series will have a brand new host -- comedienne Lynne Koplitz -- a young single herself and a tried and true New Yorker with a unique point-of-view.
“Change of Heart” will adopt a new attitude complementing its in-studio interviews by taking the show to a whole new level bringing cameras out into the field. The series will cover dates from start to finish, follow-up with dating duos after they’ve left the show, take “rate-a-date” testimonials from moms, best friends and even siblings, and offer guests the opportunity to date that special someone they’ve always wanted to hook up with. Koplitz will even serve as a “third wheel” on select dates investigating how the dates are moving along and adding even more uninhibited, fresh and spontaneous viewpoints from New Yorkers witnessing the show’s singles in action.
Koplitz, originally moved from Long Island to New York City in 1996, and has built a successful career in the world of stand-up comedy performing at clubs around the country. She is a featured comic at some of Manhattan’s most renowned clubs, including Stand Up New York, the Comic Strip, the Comedy Cellar, Rascals and the Gotham Comedy Club and is a favorite on the college comedy circuit. She served as host of the late night talk show “Later,” for a stint in 1999 as part of an overall talent and development deal with NBC. She was also a featured performer in Comedy Central’s “Premium Blend.” She has also trained as a stage actress and toured the country performing in regional theater productions of “Macbeth,” “Anne of Green Gables,” “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” and numerous others.
“I have been a huge fan of ‘Change of Heart’ since the beginning,” said Koplitz. “As a single woman, I totally relate to these people because I’ve been in their situation. I can’t wait to be a part of it.”
“A relationship show is only as good as the guests and we’re moving the show to tap into the outspoken, uninhibited New Yorkers for a whole new edge,” said Jim Paratore, President, Telepictures Productions. “The New York shows we’ve produced the past three seasons have been among our most popular. The move to New York, combined with Lynne’s comedy background, will bring a whole new attitude and flavor to the show.”
Consistently one of the highest-rated dating shows on television, and an undefeated timeslot champion in New York, “Change of Heart” explores the possibilities available when a couple comes to a crossroads in their relationship and each partner goes on one date with someone new. Following these separate dates, the original couple returns to the studio to declare if they’re going to stay together or if they’ve had a “Change of Heart.” To audition to be a guest on “Change of Heart,” singles may call 877/485-9673.
“Change of Heart” is produced by AND Syndicated Productions in association with Telepictures Productions and Divine Hammer, Inc. and is distributed by Telepictures Distribution. The half-hour, five-days-a-week series is double run in a majority of the markets in which it airs, including six of the top ten markets (New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Boston, Washington, DC and Atlanta). # # #
