Award-Winning Writer/Producer Lydia Woodward Signs Exclusive New Deal With Warner Bros. Television
(July 25, 2001 - Burbank, CA) - Emmy award-winner Lydia Woodward has signed a new three-year development and production deal with Warner Bros. Television, it was announced today by Peter Roth, President, Warner Bros. Television. Under the new deal, Woodward will continue to serve as creator/executive producer on the anticipated new Lydia Woodward/John Wells/Warner Bros. Television series “Citizen Baines” (CBS), while developing new projects exclusively for the studio.
“Lydia is an outstanding writer and producer,” said Roth. “We look forward with great anticipation to working with Lydia on ‘Citizen Baines’ and to continuing our long-term relationship.”
“I am delighted to be continuing my relationship with Warner Bros. Television,” said Woodward. “Peter Roth and his team have been incredibly supportive this year in developing ‘Citizen Baines’ with John Wells and myself, and I look forward to a productive future.”
“It’s been my great fortune to work with Lydia Woodward for the past thirteen years,” stated executive producer John Wells. “She’s smart, a very talented writer and a wonderful producer. I’m delighted we’ll be able to continue working together here at Warner Bros.”
Woodward was an integral part of ‘ER” during its first six years, serving as both a writer and executive producer for the John Wells/WBTV Production. In 1996, “ER” won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Drama Series. During her tenure the series won eight additional Emmy Awards, the Norman Felton Producer of the Year Award, the People’s Choice Award for Favorite Television Dramatic Series and the prestigious George Foster Peabody Award.
Woodward began her writing career as a story editor on the final season of “St. Elsewhere.” She then became a writer and producer on “China Beach,” where she received two Emmy nominations for writing and producing. Following “China Beach,” she served as supervising producer on the series “Angel Street.” # # #
