(March 8, 2007 - Burbank, CA and Paris ) — Sixteen-year Warner Bros. Entertainment and Time Warner executive Caroline Lang has been promoted to the post of Vice President & Managing Director, France, Warner Bros. International Television Distribution (WBITD), it was announced today by Jeffrey R. Schlesinger, President, Warner Bros. International Television, and Iris Knobloch, Président-Directeur Général, Warner Bros. France S.A.
In her new position, Lang will lead the Studio’s television distribution operations in France, managing WBITD’s sales executives and overseeing the licensing of television series, theatrical motion pictures, movies for television and animation to free and pay TV operators over terrestrial, cable, satellite and IPTV platforms. She will also handle sales of these programs to selected new media clients in the areas of VOD and SVOD in coordination with Warner Bros. Digital Distribution. She will report to Jose “Pepe” Abad, WBITD’s Senior Vice President & Managing Director, Southern Europe, and to Knobloch.
“Caroline is an incredibly talented executive, with great relationships among the French television community and in Europe, and she is an outstanding ambassador for WBITD and our content,” said Schlesinger. “Our French television operations are in great hands with Caroline, and I look forward to working with her for many years to come.”
“Her in-depth knowledge of the French television and telecommunication sector will add great value to the senior management team of Warner Bros. in France,” said Knobloch, “and we couldn’t be happier to have Caroline in her new position.”
Lang succeeds the late Michel Lecourt—the former Vice President & General Manager, French-Speaking Territories, alongside whom she worked for the past 10 years—as head of WBITD’s French office. She has been based in Paris for Warner Bros. and, before that, Time Warner since 1991.
Immediately prior to being named Managing Director, Lang served as Deputy Managing Director, France, WBITD, a position to which she was promoted in 2003. From 1999-2003, she served as Executive Director, France, WBITD, and was WBITD’s Director of Sales in Paris from 1997-1999.
Before joining WBITD, Lang was Special Programming Director for Warner Home Video in Paris from 1994-1997, where she was instrumental in developing and creating the first children’s “edutainment” titles for the French marketplace.
Prior to working at Warner Home Video, Lang spent three years working for Time Warner. From 1992-1994, she was Vice President, Time Warner Publishing, in Paris, after having served as International Project Director for Time Warner Inc. in New York City from 1991-1992.
Before joining the Company, Lang was Senior International Editor at Maxwell-Macmillan Publishing Company in New York from 1990-1991, after beginning her professional career in 1989 at Maxwell Communications Corporation in London, serving as Business Development Executive.
Lang holds a Masters in Public Law, with a specialty in local administration, and a Master of Philosophy in Public Funds, both from the University of Paris I, Panthéon-Sorbonne. Additionally, she earned a Doctorate in Public Law, specializing in international public law, from the University of Paris X, Nanterre. A bilingual executive, Lang is fluent in both French and English.
