Christophe Mercier Named Vice President, Speciality Films, Warner Bros. Pictures International
(November 15, 2004 – Burbank, CA) – Christophe Mercier has been appointed to the newly created position of Vice President, Speciality Films, Warner Bros. Pictures International. Based in London, Mercier will report to the respective heads of European marketing and distribution based in London and of the overall division based in Burbank, California.
Mercier’s primary function will be to identify and evaluate opportunities relevant to the international releases of Warner Bros. Pictures International’s speciality films, which include Warner Independent Pictures titles, local productions and acquisitions (outside the country of origin), and other films slated for select release.
Mercier’s day-to-day responsibilities will include developing a detailed business analysis of each speciality title and coordinating with the relevant territory offices to assess title potential. Mercier will work closely with the various marketing and distribution teams to develop and implement detailed release strategies.
Previously, Mercier coordinated the Acquisition and Distribution strategies at Indie Circle, a partnership of five European distributors (France, Italy, Belgium, The Netherlands, and Switzerland), whose first acquisition, “Osama,” was a prestigious commercial success, with the box office of France alone surpassing that of the U.S. During this period, he also served as a Film Scout for the Directors’ Fortnight section of the Cannes Film Festival, where the English-language entries “The Mother” and “Mean Creek” were selected.
Prior to Indie Circle, Mercier held positions at Universal Pictures International, first as a Business Analyst and then as a Manager, for the International Distribution department based in London. Additionally, Mercier has also served in various capacities at international offices of UIP, Castle Rock International, New Line International, and UNICEF.
Fluent in French and English, Mercier was educated at the University of Geneva and the University of Provence.
