“Constantine” UK Halloween Debut on Amazon Prime Instant Video
(October 27, 2014 – London) – The first episode of US TV series “Constantine” has launched on Amazon Prime Instant Video with further episodes set to be released in the UK just hours after its stateside premiere on NBC. Based on the hugely popular comic book series from DC Comics, “Constantine” has launched during Amazon Prime Instant Video’s hair-raising Halloween takeover, with a new episode landing every Saturday thereafter.
“Constantine” stars Matt Ryan (“Criminal Minds”) as John Constantine - a seasoned demon hunter and master of the occult. Armed with a ferocious knowledge of the dark arts and a wickedly naughty wit, he fights the good fight — or at least he did.
With his soul already damned to hell, John Constantine abandons his campaign against evil, until a series of surprising events thrusts him back into the fray and he’ll do whatever it takes to protect the innocent. With the balance of good and evil on the line, Constantine travels the country, finding the supernatural terrors that threaten our world and sending them back to where they belong. After that, who knows… maybe there’s hope for him and his soul after all.
The series is executive produced by Daniel Cerone (“Dexter,” “The Mentalist”), David S. Goyer (“The Dark Knight” trilogy), and Mark Verheiden (“Falling Skies,” “Battlestar Galactica”), with the pilot episode directed by “Game of Thrones” director Neil Marshall. “Constantine” also stars Angélica Celaya (“Dallas”) as Zed, Charles Halford (“True Detective”) as Chas, and Harold Perrineau (“Lost”) as Manny. Based upon the characters from DC Comics and produced by Bonanza Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television, “Constantine” is distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. International Television Distribution.
As well as the opening episode of “Constantine,” Amazon Prime Instant Video’s week-long Halloween takeover will feature some of the nation’s favourite spine-chilling films and shows, including “Resident Evil: Retribution,” “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2,” and “Evil Dead,” among many others.
“It’s the one night of the year when audiences around the world are looking for a fright, so we’re delighted to be making the UK exclusive first episode of ‘Constantine’ available to Prime Instant Video customers this Halloween” said Chris Bird, Director of Content Strategy at Amazon Instant Video, adding: “‘Constantine’ is a great addition to the catalogue of spooky TV shows and frightening films already made available for unlimited streaming during our Halloween takeover, featuring alongside classics like ‘The Craft’ and ‘An American Werewolf in London’ and contemporary favourites like ‘Warm Bodies.’”
