Dean Marks Promoted To Senior Vice President, Intellectual Property, Corporate Business Development & Strategy, Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc.
(September 11, 2003 - Burbank, CA) - Dean Marks has been promoted to Senior Vice President, Intellectual Property, Corporate Business Development & Strategy, Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc., it was announced today by Kevin Tsujihara, Executive Vice President, Corporate Business Development & Strategy, Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc.
In his new position, Marks will serve as a senior advisor to Warner Bros. Entertainment on all intellectual property issues, including general business practices, positioning on domestic and international legislation and regulatory policy, anti-piracy efforts and content protection technology.
"Copyright protection is crucial to the viability of all content businesses," said Tsujihara. "With his extensive background and expertise in IP rights and legislation, Dean is uniquely suited to guide our efforts in this very important arena."
Marks moves into this key position after having served as Senior Counsel, Intellectual Property for AOL Time Warner's corporate legal department for eight years. Before that, he was based in Brussels and served as Vice President, Legal Affairs for Time Warner, where he advised and lobbied on European Union legislation with a focus on intellectual property and media issues. Marks has also been a Director of Business and Legal Affairs for both Warner Home Video and Warner Bros. Consumer Products. Prior to joining Warner Bros., he was an associate at the Los Angeles law firm Tuttle & Taylor and clerked for Judge Mariana Pfaelzer, U.S. District Court, Central District of California.
Marks received his juris doctor degree from Yale University and a bachelor's degree with distinction from Stanford University, where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa. # # #
