Denis Leroy Named Production Executive For Europe, Warner Bros. International Television Distribution
(June 5, 2000 – Burbank, CA) – Denis Leroy has been named Production Executive for Europe, Warner Bros. International Television Distribution, it was announced today by Jeffrey R. Schlesinger, President, Warner Bros. International Television.
Leroy will be responsible for the overall management of all production-related issues in Europe for both English-language and local-language production. He will also ensure the recently announced production alliances between Warner Bros. International Television and UFA International Film & TV Production and between WBIT and Europe Audiovisuel are properly represented at all times. Based in Paris, Leroy will report to Catherine Malatesta, Senior Vice President, International Television Production, Warner Bros. International Television Distribution.
“Our international production area is working on a full slate of quality projects,” said Malatesta. “I’m pleased that we have someone with Denis’ production expertise as such an integral member of our team.”
Leroy has more than 15 years of production experience, having most recently worked as a Production Executive on the series “The Relic Hunter.” He also has served as a producer on the series “The Raven,” co-executive producer on the series “Highlander,” and as Head of Production for “Highlander” production company Gaumont Television. In addition, Leroy has worked on numerous quality productions for French and European broadcasters, including “Les Monos” and “La Rivière Espérance.”
Warner Bros. International Television made its foray into international television production in 1995 as part of a strategic initiative to create globally appealing programming in association with European production companies and networks. Since then, WBIT has produced or financed more than 180 hours of original programming with a variety of international producers, broadcasters and investors, in countries such as the United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada, France and Germany. Among WBIT’s credits are the animated series “The Fantastic Voyages of Sinbad the Sailor” (Cartoon Network) and “Zorro” (syndicated), the live-action series “The New Adventures of Robin Hood” (TNT and syndicated), “Police Academy: The Series” (syndicated), and the upcoming Canadian-French co-production, “Code Name: Eternity,” as well as the gripping two-hour television movie “Terror in the Mall” (Fox). The division’s live-action suspense series “Dark Realm” is currently in production. # # #
