Doug Frank Promoted To President, Music Operations, Warner Bros. Pictures
(June 4, 2002 - Burbank, CA) - Doug Frank has been promoted to President, Music Operations, Warner Bros. Pictures, it was announced today by Alan Horn, President & Chief Operating Officer, Warner Bros.
In this newly created position, Frank will be responsible for the administrative, production and day-to-day operations of Warner Bros. Pictures Music, as well as for the strategic design, development and deployment of music-related initiatives to meet the needs of Warner Bros. Pictures’ producers and directors. Gary LeMel, President, Worldwide Music, Warner Bros. Pictures, will continue to be responsible for the overall creative direction of Warner Bros. Pictures Music.
“Doug has played a crucial role in our extraordinarily successful film music operation over the years,” said Horn. “He has excellent relationships with musicians, composers and filmmakers, is expert in every facet of soundtrack production and fully understands the artistic process.”
“Throughout the many years Doug and I have worked together, I have been consistently impressed with his talent and instincts,” said LeMel. “This promotion recognizes the many contributions and successes he’s been responsible for.”
Frank has been with Warner Bros. more than 15 years, most recently serving as Executive Vice President, Music, Warner Bros. Pictures. In this capacity, he worked on some of the most successful movie soundtracks in history, including “The Bodyguard” (14 million units sold domestically; 30 million worldwide), the “Batman” films, the “Lethal Weapon” films, and the platinum (million-selling or more) soundtracks “New Jack City” and “Pure Country.” Prior to joining Warner Bros. Pictures, Frank headed Warner Bros. Television’s music department and helped shape the musical tone of such WBTV signature series as “Murphy Brown” and “China Beach.” Frank has also worked with Warner Bros. Animation and served as a music consultant to The WB Television Network. A published songwriter, Frank has had his songs recorded by such artists as Dionne Warwick and Placido Domingo. He’s also worked as a studio musician, composed scores for television series and co-written the Broadway musical “Marilyn: An American Fable.” # # #
