Feud Between Former First Feline, Socks And First Canine, Buddy, Leads To Tinseltown Engagement
(January 19, 2001 – Burbank, CA) – In a case of art imitating life, Warner Bros. Pictures sees the recently exposed battle between former White House pets Socks and Buddy as a remarkable parallel to the events in the new film “Cats & Dogs,” which will open May 25. Now that the pair have vacated the White House, the Studio hopes they will lend their expertise to the film, which is currently in production, by serving as “technical” advisors.
When the First Feud made front-page news the nation was shocked to discover discord between the camera-ready cat and the huggable hound.
“It is our belief,” stated Brad Ball, President, Domestic Marketing, Warner Bros. Pictures, “that the simmering rivalry between Socks and Buddy imminently qualifies them to serve as expert consultants for our film, ‘Cats & Dogs,’ which tackles the scratchy subject of the on-going war between the species. Our search for authenticity knows no boundaries. I cannot recall when our nation has seen a bigger rivalry unless it was the time that Sylvester and Spike ended up in traction over Tweety.”
“Cats & Dogs” is a comedic action-adventure film that combines live action with cutting-edge CGI and animatronic effects. It uncovers the truth, heretofore unknown by humans, about the high-tech, secret war being waged in neighborhoods everywhere between the great armies of cats and dogs.
Warner Bros. Pictures presents, in association with Village Roadshow Pictures and NPV Entertainment, a Mad Chance/Zide/Perry Production, “Cats & Dogs,” starring Jeff Goldblum, Elizabeth Perkins, Alexander Pollock and Miriam Margolyes, with the voices of Alec Baldwin, Michael Clarke Duncan, Sean Hayes, Jon Lovitz, Tobey Maguire, Joe Pantoliano and Susan Sarandon. Directed by Larry Guteman and written by John Requa & Glenn Ficarra, the film is produced by Andrew Lazar, Chris de Faria, Warren Zide and Craig Perry. Executive producers are Chris Bender, J.C. Spink and Bruce Berman. “Cats & Dogs” will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures and in select territories by Village Roadshow Pictures. www.catsanddogsmovie.com AOL Keyword: Cats and Dogs. # # #
