Grand Prize Winner Of “Pokémon 3 The Movie” Contest On America Online To Receive Custom-Made “Pikachu” VW Beetle And Trip To Japan
(March 30, 2001 – Burbank, CA) – While excitement builds nationwide for the April 6th release of the latest Pokémon big-screen adventure, one lucky winner of the “Pokémon 3 The Movie” contest conducted on America Online (AOL) will take home one of a limited number of custom-made, bright yellow Pikachu VW Beetles next week. The car comes complete with built-in television and a Nintendo 64 game console. Additionally, she and her family will receive a 5-day trip to Japan, courtesy of ANA (All Nippon Airways), whose aircrafts feature Pokémon characters.
As part of the growing anticipation over the theatrical release of “Pokémon 3 The Movie,” America Online subscribers were invited to explain why they and their children were the Ultimate Pokémon Family, on a message board provided by AOL’s Parenting Channel (AOL Keyword: Parenting). The contest was jointly sponsored by Warner Bros. Pictures, Nintendo of America, ANA and America Online.
Paula Wynn, a schoolteacher from Norfolk, Virginia, was proclaimed the contest winner on March 26. She and her 11-year-old son, Brendan, will travel to Washington, D.C., on April 4, to accept their prizes in person on the tarmac next to the ANA 747, which is painted with Pokémon characters.
The third Pokémon feature film, “Pokémon 3 The Movie,” takes Ash Ketchum and his friends to the beautiful mountain town of Greenfield, where they will encounter the Unown, the most mysterious of all Pokémon, that have the power to bring human thoughts and dreams into reality.
Many of the more than 100 new Pokémon that were introduced for the first time in October of last year in the Gold and Silver edition Pokémon Game Boy games will make their animated debut in “Pokémon 3 The Movie.”
Warner Bros. is again collaborating with Nintendo of America, which manages the Pokémon franchise, acquired from the original creators in Japan, in all territories outside of Asia; and 4Kids Entertainment, which adapted the film and is Nintendo of America’s exclusive agent for licensing the property.
