Grand Prize Winner Named In Warner Bros. Pictures’ “Charlie And The Chocolate Factory” Golden Ticket Sweepstakes
(July 8, 2005 - Burbank, CA) – Warner Bros. Pictures congratulates Kathleen Dunford of Lakeland, Florida, as the grand prize winner in the "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" Golden Ticket Sweepstakes contest, launched in celebration of the upcoming release "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," starring Johnny Depp. Dunford and her 14-year-old daughter will be flown to New York City for a private screening of the film, opening nationwide July 15th, and an exclusive shopping spree in the city’s famed Dylan’s Candy Bar.
Dunford’s name was selected in a random drawing from a pool of more than 10,000 entries from fans who registered online to win at the Warner Bros. Pictures website or through the "Today Show" page at today.msnbc.com, beginning June 28th when the contest was announced on the "Today Show."
Additional sweepstakes winners will receive either a year’s worth of Nestle’s Wonka candy or a complete set of books from author Roald Dahl, including the classic "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," from Penguin Books.
Today will accompany Dunford to Dylan’s on July 15th to capture the action live as she samples some of the specialty confections and to present her with a souvenir 10-pound bar of Wonka Chocolate containing a Golden Ticket inscribed with her name.
Acclaimed director Tim Burton brings his vividly imaginative style to the beloved Roald Dahl classic "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," about eccentric chocolatier Willy Wonka (two-time Oscar nominee Johnny Depp) and Charlie (Freddie Highmore), a good-hearted boy from a poor family who lives in the shadow of Wonka's extraordinary factory. Long isolated from his own family, Wonka launches a worldwide contest to select an heir to his candy empire. Five lucky children, including Charlie, draw golden tickets from Wonka chocolate bars and win a guided tour of the legendary candy-making facility that no outsider has seen in 15 years. Dazzled by one amazing sight after another, Charlie is drawn into Wonka's fantastic world in this astonishing and enduring story.
