Jamie Kennedy To Star In A Comedy-Reality Show For The WB
(October 4, 2001 – Burbank, CA) – The WB Network has given a 13-episode midseason order to a comedy reality show, starring Jamie Kennedy (“Scream”), utilizing the star/executive producer’s positive energy and ability to create a fun-filled atmosphere.
The half-hour studio-based show will feature an elaborate ruse to be played out over the episode. Kennedy, a well-known comedic talent to The WB’s audience, will play recurring characters who interact with an unsuspecting public. Kennedy, who got his start in standup comedy, will be joined by a talented ensemble of improv performers. Another element of the program will consist of Kennedy empowering celebrities and regular people to use him to execute a practical joke.
Kennedy will serve as executive producer along with Fax Bahr & Adam Small, the creative force behind “MadTV” and Mike Karz, who produced the upcoming feature film “Max Keeble’s Big Move,” which features Kennedy.
“We are confident that taking durable comedic formats and handing them over to a fun and appealing comedic personality like Jamie is a good shot for midseason,” said Jordan Levin, President, Entertainment, The WB.
As a special presentation during The WB’s Pre-Upfront, Kennedy pulled off a hidden camera prank, in which he played “the nephew” of Turner Broadcasting, Inc. Chairman & CEO, Jamie Kellner, trying to get a job in the advertising industry. The “meetings” with prominent media buyers were extremely well-received by the very same advertising executives he lampooned along with hundreds of their colleagues.
The series will be produced by Big Ticket Entertainment in association with Warner Bros. Television. # # #
