Josh Lam, Craig Roberts And Jeff Wadley Join Warner Bros. Pictures’ In-House Creative Advertising Agency, The Idea Place
(July 17, 2000 – Burbank, CA) - Mechanical artist Josh Lam, post-production sound engineer Craig Roberts and Junior Art Director Jeff Wadley have joined the staff of Warner Bros. Pictures’ award-winning in-house advertising agency and post production facility, The Idea Place, it was announced today by Ricky Mintz, Senior Vice President of Idea Place. Wadley and Lam will report directly to Jon Sparrman, Vice President, Print Advertising, and Roberts will report directly to Roger Woolery, Vice President, Post-Production.
Wadley, who was previously with Universal Studios’ Consumer Products division and EMI-Capitol Records Special Markets, will generate, develop and create pitch materials for promotional partners, and oversee implementation of creative promotional campaigns.
Lam, who most recently worked at the entertainment design agency Weston/Mason And Associates, will be responsible for the production of digital mechanicals and layouts for theatrical release campaigns, designs for corporate trade ads, as well as assisting in all aspects of creative print advertising.
Roberts, who has mixed such TV properties as “Garfield and Friends” and “The Mask,” will utilize non-linear audio workstations for sound, music, narration and effects for theatrical motion picture TV, radio spots and corporate product reels, in addition to finishing post production audio on all TV spots.
“As the Idea Place continues to grow and service not only Warner Bros. Pictures marketing but a variety of divisions within the Warner Bros. family, it is necessary to expand and enrich our operations with highly creative and enterprising individuals like Josh, Jeff and Craig,” Mintz said.
Josh Lam was born and raised in Kentucky and graduated from Western Kentucky University. His first job was designing video box art for computer animation instructional videos. Prior to joining the Idea Place, he was a Junior Art Director at Weston/Mason Entertainment Advertising where he designed video boxes, brochures, consumer and trade ads.
Originally hailing from the East Coast, Craig Roberts began his career in post production sound at the Institute of Audio/Video Engineering in Los Angeles. After graduating, he worked as an Assistant Engineer at Coley Sound Productions, mixing low budget feature films and designing and building additional studios for the company. He next joined Sound Services Incorporated as a re-recording engineer, then worked freelance on on-air promotions for “The Simpsons” and “Cops.” He also mixed the animated shows “Mighty Max,” “Garfield and Friends” and “The Mask” as well as various shows for PBS, A&E Biographies and ABC TV. He is a certified Macintosh Technician as well as being one of the first in Los Angeles to work with Avid Audiovision.
St. Louis-born Jeff Wadley earned a degree in advertising from the University of Missouri-Columbia. After relocating to Los Angeles, Wadley went to work for EMI-Capitol Records and, later, for EMI-Capitol Special Markets division, where he stayed for over two years. He next became a graphic designer at Universal Studios’ Consumer Products Group, where he helped develop style guides and products for all of Universal’s properties and theatrical releases.
The Idea Place is responsible for feature film advertising campaigns, which consists of theatrical trailers, TV spots, one-sheets, print and newspaper ads, and graphic production. Its work on the “Any Given Sunday” trailer and TV campaign was recognized with a Silver and a Bronze medal at the 1999 Omni Intermedia Awards and two first-place Mobius Advertising Awards, as well as their recent campaigns for “You’ve Got Mail,” “Wild Wild West” and “Pokemon the First Movie.” # # #
