Kids’ WB!, Kellogg And Nintendo Join Forces To Offer One Grand Prize Winner The Chance To Drive Home “Pokémon-Style” In A "Pikachu” Car During The “Pokémon” Orange Island Sweepstakes”
(September 5, 2000 – Burbank, CA) – How cool would it be if you could drive to school, your friend’s house and your own home in a “Pikachu” car? … well, here’s your chance…let the games begin! … Kids’ WB!, Kellogg and Nintendo join forces to invite kids to eat, watch and participate in the “POKÉMON Orange Island Sweepstakes.”
Kids’ WB!, Kellogg USA and Nintendo will be giving away one grand prize of a “Pikachu” car and 5,000 additional Nintendo Gold and Silver Game Boy prizes during the “POKÉMON Orange Island Sweepstakes.” From now until Sept. 9, kids across the country are encouraged to collect “Orange Island League Badges” from more than 30 million participating Kellogg’s® cereal boxes and watch “Pokémon” on Sept. 8-9, to identify the name of the Gym Leaders associated with each badge collected by Ash in the series. Each Kellogg’s cereal box contains one “Orange Island League Badge.”
To coincide with the launch of Kids’ WB!’s all-new “Fraturday” (formerly known as Friday) and Saturday morning line-ups on Friday, Sept. 8 and Saturday, Sept. 9, kids will be able to watch “Pokémon” as Ash receives four “Orange Island League Badges” from four different Gym Leaders on these two days. Viewers will have to watch carefully when a Gym Leader gives Ash an “Orange Island League Badge” so they can write that Gym Leader’s name on their corresponding badge. Kids will need to mail the badge to Kellogg by October 30 to be eligible to win one of thousands of exciting Pokémon prizes. In addition, the “POKÉMON Orange Island Sweepstakes” will award 500 first-prize winners with a Color Game Boy and a Pokémon Gold or Pokémon Silver Cartridge, and 4,500 second-prize winners will receive a Pokémon Silver Game Cartridge or a Pokémon Gold Game Cartridge.
