Lance Volland Named Executive Vice President, International Publicity, Warner Bros. Pictures, Désirée Finnegan Upped To Senior Vice President
(May 2, 2012 – Burbank, CA) – Having led the Studio’s international publicity operations over the past five years, Lance Volland has been promoted to Executive Vice President, International Publicity, at Warner Bros. Pictures. Désirée Finnegan was also promoted to the title of Senior Vice President, International Publicity. The announcement was made today by Sue Kroll, President, Worldwide Marketing, Warner Bros. Pictures.
Volland will continue to head the Studio’s international publicity department, supervising the strategic creation and execution of all publicity campaigns for Warner Bros. Pictures’ international slate. He will also continue to oversee all functions of the international publicity division, encompassing talent tours and press junkets, film festivals, local production publicity, media promotions and tie-ins, materials, awards campaigns (HFPA, BAFTA), and publicity strategies and directives to all overseas offices.
“With the growth of the international marketplace over the last several years, Lance and his team have been integral to the success of Warner Bros. Pictures overseas,” Kroll said. “He has bolstered our teams around the world with innovative strategies, market savvy and strong leadership. I am delighted to recognize his great work with this promotion.”
Finnegan, who reports to Volland, moves up from the role of Vice President, International Publicity, a post she has held since 2010. She will continue to handle key department responsibilities and help guide the strategies and publicity campaigns as the Studio releases films around the world.
“Désirée has built terrific relationships in the filmmaking community and is a wonderful asset to our international publicity team,” Kroll said. “I’m thrilled to see her growth within the department.”
Recent international campaigns include such box office hits as the “Harry Potter” series and its record-breaking final film, as well as “Inception,” “The Dark Knight,” “The Hangover” films, and the “Sherlock Holmes” features. Campaigns for the Studio’s upcoming releases include Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight Rises,” Adam Shankman’s “Rock of Ages,” Ben Affleck’s “Argo,” and Peter Jackson’s “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey” and “The Hobbit: There And Back Again.”
Prior to being named to being named Executive Vice President, Volland served as Senior Vice President, International Publicity, a post he held since 2007. He joined the studio in 1998 as a Director before being named Vice President of Publicity in April of 2003. He started his career at the publicity agency Rogers & Cowan. He will continue to be based at the Studio’s worldwide headquarters in Burbank, California.
Hailing from Dublin, Ireland, Finnegan joined the Studio in 2004 as Director, International Publicity, rising through the ranks to Vice President. Prior to joining Warner Bros. Pictures, Finnegan was based in Europe working within the Irish music industry, and then relocated to New York to hold a position with the Irish government. She is also based at the Studio’s Burbank headquarters.
