Lisa Margolis Named Senior Vice President, Business And Legal Affairs, Warner Bros. Pictures Music
(May 21, 2004 – Burbank, CA) - Lisa Margolis has been promoted to Senior Vice President, Business & Legal Affairs in the Music Division at Warner Bros. Pictures. The announcement was made by Keith Zajic, Executive Vice President, Business Affairs, Warner Bros. Pictures Music.
In her new position, Margolis will continue to negotiate music agreements for Warner Bros. Pictures features and soundtrack albums, and will oversee other legal issues relevant to the Music Division's activities. She joined Warner Bros. Pictures in 1989 as an attorney in Business Affairs, Music, and has worked on negotiating the agreements for gold and platinum soundtrack albums for such movies as “City of Angels,” “The Bodyguard,” “Singles,” “Space Jam,” “A Walk To Remember” and the Harry Potter series.
“Lisa is an enormous asset to our department and to Warner Bros. Pictures,” said Zajic. “Her understanding of the issues we manage, her strong relationships, and her work ethic are all tremendous. It’s a pleasure to recognize her many contributions with this well-earned promotion.”
Margolis had previously spent four years at the Beverly Hills law firm of Finley, Kumble, Wagner, Heine, Underberg Manley & Casey, followed by stints at Paramount Pictures’ domestic television division and Columbia Pictures’ music division. She began her legal career at the Federal Communications Commission in Washington, D.C., moving from the Broadcast Bureau to the Office of the General Counsel.
In addition to her work in business affairs, Margolis has achieved notice as a freelance music photographer. Her credits include the cover for Rod Stewart’s “Every Picture Tells a Story” album and a CD booklet photograph of Alvin Lee for a “Ten Years After” compilation album released by Hippo Records. Her work has been published in Billboard, Rolling Stone, New York Daily News, Cream, Crawdaddy and Zoo World.
She supports charitable causes such as The City of Hope and has served on The City of Hope’s Executive Committee For the Music and Entertainment Industry Chapter since 1992. Margolis teaches “Understanding Contracts in the Music Industry” at U.C.L.A. Extension and, last summer, taught “Business and Legal Affairs for Film and T.V. Music” along with Maureen Crowe.
