Mariah Carey, Wyclef Jean, Jane Kaczmarek, Willie Nelson And Jimmy Smits Join “America: A Tribute To Heroes”
(September 19, 2001 – Burbank, CA) - Mariah Carey, Wyclef Jean, Jane Kaczmarek, Willie Nelson and Jimmy Smits have joined the talent roster of “America: A Tribute to Heroes,” which today also announced the addition of a live Internet broadcast by Yahoo! and carriage of the event by six additional broadcast networks, 16 pay/cable networks and numerous radio outlets across the country.
Joining ABC, CBS, FOX and NBC in the carriage of “America: A Tribute to Heroes” are BET, Comedy Central, Court TV, Discovery, E!, Fox Family, FX, HBO, Lifetime, MTV, PAX, PBS, SHOWTIME, Sundance Channel, Telemundo, TLC, TNN, TNT, The WB, Univision, UPN, and VH-1. A number of Westwood One and Clear Channel Communications radio affiliates across the country will also simulcast the special. Additional outlets are expected to sign on.
As announced on Tuesday, September 18, the talent roster for “America: A Tribute to Heroes” includes (in alphabetical order): Bon Jovi, Amy Brenneman, Jim Carrey, George Clooney, Sheryl Crow, Tom Cruise, Cameron Diaz, The Dixie Chicks, Robert De Niro, Clint Eastwood, Calista Flockhart, Dennis Franz, Kelsey Grammer, Tom Hanks, Faith Hill, Billy Joel, Alicia Keys, Conan O’Brien, Tom Petty, Ray Romano, Julia Roberts, Paul Simon, Will Smith, Bruce Springsteen, Sela Ward, Robin Williams, Stevie Wonder, Neil Young.
“America: A Tribute to Heroes” a two-hour live, commercial-free, simulcast to raise funds for a long-term relief effort for Americans who have directly suffered from last week’s terrorist attacks, will air Friday, September 21, 9:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m. (Eastern/Pacific) and 8:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. (Central/Mountain). # # #
