New U.S. Drama Series “Castle Rock” Will Premiere on Yandex via Deal with WBITD
(July 25, 2018) – Yandex has acquired exclusive SVOD rights from Warner Bros. International Television Distribution to premiere several tv series for Russian viewers. The first of these series— Warner Bros. Television’s “Castle Rock” — will premiere this week and will be available to Yandex.Plus subscribers.
Taking viewers into the chilling world of acclaimed best-selling author Stephen King, “Castle Rock” is a psychological-horror series set in the King multiverse, combining the mythological scale and intimate character storytelling of his best-loved works, weaving an epic saga of darkness and light, played out on a few square miles of Maine woodland. From executive producers/writers Sam Shaw & Dustin Thomason, the project reunites King, J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot Productions and Warner Bros. Television, which previously collaborated on event series “11.22.63,” based on King’s novel.
The 10-episode series debuts on Kinopoisk the day after its July 25 world premiere on Hulu in the United States. This week, viewers will be able to see the first several episodes, with the remainder to be released on a weekly basis. “Castle Rock” stars André Holland, Melanie Lynskey, Bill Skarsgård with Jane Levy and Sissy Spacek; Scott Glenn is a special guest star. J.J. Abrams, Stephen King, Sam Shaw, Dustin Thomason, Ben Stephenson, Mark Lafferty and Liz Glotzer are executive producers of the series from Bad Robot Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television.
“Thanks to the cooperation with Warner Bros. International Television Distribution, we will be able to provide our users with high-quality series of different genres. Our initial subscribers will see ‘Castle Rock’ — the series that fans of Stephen King have been waiting for. The recently released feature adaptation of his bestseller ‘It’ has already grossed more than $700 million in worldwide box office,” says Olga Filipuk, VP for Media Services Development at Yandex.
The owners of the Yandex.Plus subscription will get access to several other series from Warner Bros. and other production companies. All these series have already been shown abroad or will be released this year and will be shown for the first time in Russia on Kinopoisk.
