Nicole Kidman To Star In “Invasion” For Silver Pictures And Warner Bros. Pictures
(August 1, 2005 - Burbank, CA) – Academy Award winning actress Nicole Kidman ("The Interpreter," "The Hours," "Moulin Rouge") and Oscar-nominated director Oliver Hirschbiegel ("Downfall") will team for the sci-fi thriller "Invasion" for Silver Pictures and Warner Bros. Pictures in association with Vertigo Entertainment.
Produced by Joel Silver (the Matrix trilogy) and directed by Hirschbiegel, "Invasion" tells the story of a mysterious epidemic that alters the behavior of human beings. When a Washington D.C. psychiatrist (Nicole Kidman) discovers the epidemic’s origins are extraterrestrial, she must fight to protect her son, who may hold the key to stopping an imminent invasion.
“It’s incredibly exciting to have Nicole Kidman, one of the most gifted, versatile actresses in the world, starring in 'Invasion' with Oliver Hirschbiegel directing,” Silver said. “'Invasion' gives Nicole an opportunity to bring her depth and range to the kind of gritty action role that we haven’t see her play before, as Oliver infuses the film with the brand of provocative, character-driven storytelling he’s known for.”
"Invasion" is executive produced by Susan Levin, Doug Davison, Roy Lee and Don Zepfel. The screenplay is by David Kajganich ("Monkey’s Paw").
The production will film on location in Baltimore, Washington D.C. and New York this fall.
"Invasion" will be released by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.
