Phil Gonzales Promoted To Vice President Publicity At Warner Bros Television
(September 28, 2000 – Burbank, CA) - Phil Gonzales has been promoted to Vice President, Publicity it was announced today by Sharan Magnuson, Senior Vice President, Publicity, Advertising and Promotions. In addition, Gary Mednick and Kerry Schwab have been named Directors of the department.
Gonzales, who has been at Warner Bros. Television since 1992, moves up from Director, Publicity. He will continue to supervise the publicity campaigns for Warner Bros. Television series and made-for-television movies. Gonzales was instrumental in the launch and on-going media campaign for the critically acclaimed hit comedy “Friends.” He was responsible for the publicity strategies on high profile series’ such as “Family Matters” and the Emmy Award-winning “I’ll Fly Away.” Prior to Warner Bros., Gonzales worked in the publicity department at FOX.
During her five years with Warner Bros. Television, Schwab has worked on numerous series and television movies including the live broadcast of “Fail Safe.” She currently implements the publicity campaigns for “The Drew Carey Show,” “Whose Line Is It Anyway,” “Third Watch” and “Gilmore Girls.” Previously, Schwab worked as a personal publicist representing a variety of artists including David Spade, Bill Maher and David Alan Grier. From 1990-94, she worked at Bender, Goldman and Helper as a unit publicist. Schwab’s career began in 1989 working in the marketing department at Paramount Television.
Gary Mednick began his tenure at Warner Bros. as a publicist in 1995 and was elevated to senior publicist in 1998. During this time, he has worked on a multitude of shows, among them the hit dramas “ER” and “La Femme Nikita.” Prior to working at the studio, he served as a junior publicist at FOX working on “Melrose Place,” “Married…with Children” and “Martin.” Mednick initially worked in advertising before segueing into television publicity. # # #
