(February 28, 2011 – London, UK) – Polly Cochrane has been promoted to Senior Vice President & Group Marketing Director, Warner Bros. UK (WBUK), it was announced today by Josh Berger, President & Managing Director, Warner Bros. UK, Ireland and Spain, to whom she reports. In her new position, Cochrane will continue to drive and develop Warner Bros UK’s 40-strong integrated marketing function as it prepares for the release of movies such as “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2,” “Sherlock Holmes II,” “The Hangover Part II,” “Happy Feet Two” and “Green Lantern”; video games such as “Batman: Arkham City” and “Mortal Kombat”; new and returning TV shows such as “Shameless USA,” “The Mentalist,” “The Vampire Diaries” and “Gossip Girl”; DVD, Blu-ray and digital formats of both parts of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” as well as a diverse licensed product slate. UK deliver its biggest grossing year ever to become the UK’s number one film distributor for the first time in three years. Powered by the box office performances of, among others, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1” (£52.2m), “Inception” (£35.7m), “Sex and the City 2” (£21.6m), “Sherlock Holmes” (£25.2m), “Clash of the Titans” (£20.2m), “Due Date” (£10.6m) and “Valentine’s Day” (£10.2m), Warner Bros. UK grossed £204.1 million to claim top spot in the theatrical distributor rankings and an 18.4% market share, beating its previous highest grossing year (2005) by £51 million. The theatrical success was replicated by Warner Bros. UK’s Home Entertainment division, which saw Warner Home Video become the UK’s number one value studio (13.4%) for the first time in five years. Cochrane joined Warner Bros. in April 2009 as Vice President & Group Marketing Director, Warner Bros. UK. She was previously Director of Marketing at Channel 4, where she was responsible for the broadcaster’s on and off-air marketing. This included the creation of some of the most recognisable and awarded marketing campaigns of recent times, and the successful launches of More4, Film4 free to air, Channel 4+1 and 4oD. Prior to that, Cochrane was Head of Advertising and Promotions for Channel 5.
