RTL Germany Commissions Warner Bros.' "500 Questions"
Warner Bros. International Television Production Germany will produce the primetime series for RTL. Alies Glees will executive produce (“Test the Nation,” “...Got Talent,” “Dancing with the Stars”).
Andrew Zein, Senior Vice President - Creative, Format Development and Sales at Warner Bros. International Television Production said, “‘500 Questions’ is pure primetime game-show. Entertaining, accessible to play, starring big characters and set against a stunning piece of set design. We’re looking forward to bringing ‘500 Questions’ to worldwide audiences and are delighted to be announcing ‘500 Questions’ with RTL in Germany.”
Frank Hoffmann, RTL Managing Director Program said: “With ‘Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?’ RTL has been airing for 16 years now one of the most successful shows in Germany. We are very pleased to expand our successful quiz-show genre with ‘500 Questions’ and to adapt this show event for the German market. We believe in the concept of the show, because it’s very clever and the rules are easy to understand.”
“500 Questions” sees the smartest people in the country compete to achieve the seemingly impossible task of answering 500 of the most difficult general knowledge questions ever devised. There’s only one simple rule: never get three wrong in a row—or you’re gone. No saves, no helps, no multiple-choice. It is the ultimate test, where intellect, strategy and stamina are all equally essential in order to win.
The show launched on ABC in the U.S. as a multi-night primetime event in May 2015, with the Thursday telecasts delivering ABC’s best post-season summer ratings in the Thursday 8-10pm slot since May 2013 among Total Viewers and since September 2013 with Adults 18-49.
“500 Questions” format sales are handled by Warner Bros. International Television Production, and the finished program is distributed globally by Warner Bros. Worldwide Television Distribution.
