(March 29, 2001 – Burbank, CA) – Scott Glenn (“Vertical Limit,” “Absolute Power,” “Courage Under Fire”) and Tom Berenger (“Platoon,” “The Big Chill,” “Rough Riders”) have joined the cast of “Training Day,” now in production in Los Angeles. The drama from Warner Bros. Pictures in association with Village Roadshow Pictures and NPV Entertainment stars Academy Award-winner Denzel Washington (“Glory,” “The Hurricane,” “Malcolm X”) and gifted actor Ethan Hawke (“Hamlet,” “Snow Falling on Cedars”). Also joining the cast in dramatic roles are musical artists Dr. Dre (2001 double Grammy-winner; “Set it Off”), Macy Gray (2001 Grammy-winner for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance), and Snoop Dogg (“Bones”; platinum-selling albums “The Last Meal,” “Up in Smoke”). A gripping drama set in the shadowy world of undercover police work, “Training Day” tells the story of a veteran L.A.P.D. narcotics officer (Washington) who guides an idealistic rookie (Hawke) through his first day on the brutal inner-city beat. Directed by Antoine Fuqua (“The Replacement Killers”), from an original screenplay written by David Ayer (“U-571”), “Training Day” is produced by Jeffrey Silver and Bobby Newmyer (“The Santa Clause,” “sex, lies and videotape”) for Outlaw Productions. Davis Guggenheim and Bruce Berman (“Miss Congeniality,” “The Matrix”) are the executive producers, with David Wisnievitz, Scott Strauss and David Ayer serving as co-producers. Scott Glenn stars in the upcoming military drama “Buffalo Soldiers,” with Joaquin Phoenix and Ed Harris, and begins work on “The Shipping News,” directed by Lasse Halström, immediately following “Training Day.” Tom Berenger will soon be seen starring in the action drama “Eye See You,” with Sylvester Stallone, and the thriller “Watchtower.” “Training Day” will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures and, in select territories, by Village Roadshow Pictures.
