(February 25, 2004 – Burbank, CA) – Screenwriter Shane Black (“The Long Kiss Goodnight,” the “Lethal Weapon” series) will make his directorial debut with the romantic thriller “Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang,” starring Val Kilmer (“Spartan,” “Alexander”), Robert Downey (“Gothika,” “The Singing Detective”), and Michelle Monaghan (“Constantine,” “Boston Public”). Produced by Joel Silver and written by Black, “Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang” is a Silver Pictures production. Susan Levin and Steve Richards are the executive producers. In “Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang,” a breezy take on Black’s trademark buddy action/comedy oeuvre, a petty thief (Downey) is brought to Los Angeles for an unlikely audition and finds himself in the middle of a murder investigation along with his high school dream girl (Monaghan) and a detective (Kilmer) who has been training him for his upcoming role. “I’m thrilled to be back in business with Shane,” Silver said. “He’s written a terrific script that attracted this stellar cast, and I believe his work as a director will prove to be as distinctive as the blockbuster screenplays he’s known for.” The film is set in Los Angeles and is scheduled to begin production on March 2 in Los Angeles. “Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang” will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.
