Shed Media and Talpa Media Establish Talpa UK
(March 20, 2014 – London) – Shed Media Group, a Warner Bros.-owned company and leader in the UK TV production market, has signed a joint venture agreement with John de Mol’s Talpa Holding which will see Shed Media become the exclusive home for all Talpa formats in the UK. The joint venture will be named Talpa UK.
This follows two successful series of “The Voice UK,” with the third series already airing to great audiences on BBC One. This Emmy Award-winning Talpa Holding format is produced by Shed Media’s Wall to Wall in co-production with Talpa. Shed Media will now have exclusive access to the broad Talpa catalogue, including new reality show “Utopia,” which has recently been picked up in the US.
Claire Hungate, Chief Operating Officer, Shed Media Group said: “We’re thrilled to be building upon our relationship with Talpa – the company responsible for some of the most groundbreaking formats on TV. The diversity of Talpa’s offering fits perfectly with the diversity we have across our seven UK production companies, which span every genre from entertainment, to game show, to scripted series.”
Adds Maarten Meijs, Managing Director of Talpa International: "Shed Media is definitely our preferred partner in the UK. For the past few years, we've been working exceptionally well with Shed Media's Wall to Wall on the production of ‘The Voice.’ I'm looking forward to expanding our cooperation with more Talpa formats and more Shed Group producers."
