Sky One Secures New Programming From Warner Bros. International Television Distribution
(July 8, 2003, Burbank, CA) - Sky One and Warner Bros. International Television Distribution are delighted to announce today the acquisition of an exciting new slate of programming. “Tarzan and Jane,” “Nip/Tuck,” “Fearless” and two new Jerry Bruckheimer projects, “Skin” and “The Untitled Bruckheimer-Stiehm Project” have been bought by Sky One from Warner Bros. International Television Distribution and will form the cornerstone of Sky One’s primetime winter schedule.
These programmes will launch in the US this autumn and will be seen exclusively in the UK on Sky One starting in January 2004. Following fierce competition for these sought-after shows, Sky One has secured all UK televisual rights for “Skin,” “Tarzan and Jane” and “The Untitled Bruckheimer-Stiehm Project” and has exclusive pay TV rights on “Nip/Tuck” and “Fearless.”
Sara Ramsden, Controller of Sky One, said, “With these shows Sky One really can claim to have the best of US TV first. ‘Nip/Tuck,’ featuring Joely Richardson, is the most edgy, intelligent drama to come out of the US for several years. It is 'must see' programming, with the most jaw-dropping plastic surgery sequences ever seen on TV. Fast, edgy, vibrant and fantastic entertainment.”
“'Tarzan and Jane’ brings the most eagerly anticipated male drama debut in Australian model Travis Fimmel, with some of the most exciting sexual chemistry I've ever seen. It's wonderful escapist romantic drama.”
“'Skin’ combines a touching young love story with a hard-edged Bruckheimer-driven battle of wills between a porn king and the D.A. It's high octane, spirited TV.”
“These three shows will be at the heart of Sky One's winter schedule and typify Sky One: great fun, sexy, high quality, intelligent and entertaining.”
Chris Law, UK Managing Director for Warner Bros. Television Distribution added, “We have always regarded Sky as an innovative broadcaster and we are pleased to continue our long and successful relationship with them with this deal. We are thrilled that these new programmes will debut in the UK on Sky One.”
Warner Bros. International Television Distribution is one of the world’s leading distributors of programming, licensing more than 40,000 hours of television programming and movies dubbed or subtitled in more than 40 languages to broadcasters in more than 175 countries. # # #
