Sylvia Rothblum Named Managing Director, German-Speaking Territories, Warner Bros. International Television Distribution
(December 10, 2001 - Burbank, CA) - Dr. Sylvia Rothblum has been named Managing Director, German-Speaking Territories, Warner Bros. International Television Distribution (WBITD), it was announced today by Jeffrey R. Schlesinger, President, Warner Bros. International Television.
Based in Munich, Rothblum will be responsible for the licensing of WBITD’s television and feature film product to broadcast, pay, video-on-demand, satellite and cable television clients in German-speaking territories. She will report to Joshua A. Berger, Senior Vice President, International Sales and Business Development & Managing Director for Europe, Warner Bros. International Television Distribution. Rothblum is replacing Philipp Rohwedder, Vice President & Managing Director, German-Speaking Territories, who is leaving the company to start his own business.
“Sylvia’s incredibly strong and diverse background in European television, and specifically the German market, make her perfectly suited to manage our television distribution business in Germany,” said Berger.
A multi-lingual European television executive, Rothblum joins WBITD from EM-TV, where she has served for the past four years in a senior programming and production capacity. She joined EM-TV in 1997 as Senior Vice President, Production and Co-Production, responsible for the company’s co-production and acquisition efforts. For the past year-and-a-half, she has served on the Board of Directors for EM-TV, Jim Henson Company and Yoram-Gross Studios, where she was in charge of all of EM-TV’s content, program acquisitions and production facilities.
From 1994-1997, Rothblum worked at Nickelodeon in a variety of capacities and was instrumental in the launch of their cable network in several European territories. She joined Nickelodeon in 1994 as a pre-launch coordinator in Munich and was promoted a year later to Program Director and Head of Acquisitions. From 1996-1997, she served as Executive Producer Program Strategy Europe for Nickelodeon International, based in London.
Before that, Rothblum served for five years with Kirch Media, first as a marketing analyst and then as International Sales Director, responsible for licensing feature films and television programs in France, French-speaking territories and in Italy.
Rothblum, who speaks 10 languages including English, German, Italian, French, Hebrew, Portuguese, Mandarin and Spanish, earned her Ph.D. in English Language and Sinology from the University of Milan/Vienna. # # #
