(June 28, 2007 - Burbank, CA and Munich, Germany) — Sylvia Rothblum has been promoted to Senior Vice President & Managing Director, German-Speaking Territories, Warner Bros. International Television Distribution (WBITD), it was announced today by Jeffrey R. Schlesinger, President, Warner Bros. International Television, and Willi Geike, President & Managing Director, Warner Bros. Entertainment GmbH. In her new position, Rothblum will supervise WBITD’s operations in German-speaking Europe, overseeing the licensing of Warner Bros. Entertainment content – including television series, theatrical motion pictures, movies for television and animation – to free and pay TV operators over terrestrial, cable, satellite and IPTV platforms, as well as to selected new media clients in the areas of ad-supported video-on-demand and subscription video-on-demand. Based in Munich, Rothblum will report to Robert Blair, Senior Vice President, Northern Europe, WBITD, and Geike. “Sylvia is an exceptional executive who has made a significant contribution to WBITD’s success in German-speaking Europe, and I couldn’t be happier to reward her efforts with this much-deserved promotion,” said Schlesinger. “We are thrilled to welcome Sylvia into the ranks of Warner Bros.’ senior management team in Germany,” said Geike, “and we are sure to benefit from her deep understanding of the German-speaking entertainment marketplace.” Immediately prior to her promotion, Rothblum served as Vice President & Managing Director, German-Speaking Territories, since coming to WBITD in 2002. Before joining WBITD, Rothblum worked at EM-TV four years. She served as Senior Vice President, Production and Co-Production, and was responsible for the company’s co-production and acquisition efforts. She also served on the Board of Directors for EM-TV, The Jim Henson Company and Yoram-Gross Studios, where she was in charge of all of EM-TV’s content, program acquisitions and production facilities. From 1994-1997, Rothblum worked at Nickelodeon in a variety of capacities and was instrumental in the launch of Nickelodeon’s cable network in several European territories. She joined Nickelodeon in 1994 as a pre-launch coordinator in Munich and was promoted a year later to Program Director and Head of Acquisitions. From 1996-1997, she served as Executive Producer, Program Strategy, Europe, for Nickelodeon International, also based in Munich. Before that, Rothblum served for five years with Kirch Media, first as a marketing analyst and then as International Sales Director, responsible for licensing feature films and television programs in France, French-speaking territories and in Italy. She began her professional career by serving as Marketing Manager for the U.S.-based All Language Services, Inc., New York City’s largest translation company. A multilingual executive, Rothblum speaks 10 languages, including English, German, Italian, French, Hebrew, Portuguese, Mandarin and Spanish. She earned her Ph.D. in English Language and Literature from the University of Milan, Italy.
