(May 25, 2010 - Burbank, CA) - Talk show host Ellen DeGeneres welcomes back the “Paparazzi” wunderkid, Greyson Chance, on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” airing on Wednesday, May 26th. After his performance on the show of his original song, “Broken Hearts,” Ellen announces she is starting her own record label – eleveneleven – and signs Greyson as her first artist.
“Greyson … inspired me to start a record label called eleveneleven. He is my first artist and we are making a record together,” said talk show host Ellen DeGeneres.
Ellen discovered Greyson through her talk show and will continue to use the show as a platform to find new artists, whom she will sign to her record label, eleveneleven, which will be set up in collaboration with Telepictures Productions.
Guy Oseary, Madonna’s manager, and Troy Carter, Lady Gaga’s manager, have signed to co-manage Greyson.
On the show, Greyson tells Ellen what life has been like since his sudden rise to fame.
Ellen: “I’m so excited to have you back. This is moving so fast. When I first met you, I said things are going to change. Now (the hits) are over 30 million views. How are you feeling about it all?”
Greyson: “It’s crazy thinking about 30 million people. It just makes me happy. It really just hasn’t sunken in yet. It has been two weeks and it still hasn’t sunken in yet. It’s awesome.”
The talk show host also invited his entire school, Cheyenne Middle School, to appear on the show via live shot and watch Greyson’s performance of his original song, “Broken Hearts.” Ellen surprised Greyson with a brand new piano courtesy of Yamaha and announced that he is the winner of “Ellen’s Wonderful Web of Wonderment” and presented him with a $10k check.
Greyson performed the Lady Gaga song, “Paparazzi,” at a local talent show at a church in Edmond, OK. He then posted the performance on YouTube where Ellen saw it and immediately wanted to have him on the show. When Ellen saw the video it had 10,000 hits. Greyson appeared on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” on Thursday, May 13th. Today the video has over 20 million hits on Greyson’s YouTube channel and including re-posts, the video has over 30 million hits. # # #
