Telepictures Productions And Kanakna Productions Enter Into Production Agreement With Kanakna USA
(October 21, 2005 - Burbank, CA) - Telepictures Productions and veteran European producer Ludo Poppe, the founder of Kanakna Productions, have entered into a production agreement to create new and innovative programming, it was announced today by Hilary Estey McLoughlin, Executive Vice President and General Manager, Telepictures Productions.
Under the new banner, Kanakna USA, the two companies will work together to co-develop properties for both the U.S. and international television marketplaces.
“Ludo has a great track record and impressive production credentials,” said Estey McLoughlin. “We’re excited to be in business with him in this new venture and will tap his expertise in reaching out to find great programming from a variety of territories and cultures.”
Kanakna, founded in 1993, is one of Europe's premier production companies and has produced local versions of “Temptation Island,” “Extreme Makeover,” “The Bachelor,” and “Survivor.” Kanakna has also produced numerous original formats including “Peking Express,” which was produced for the German, French, and Dutch television markets. ICM represents Poppe and his company and brokered this deal.
Telepictures Productions has concentrated on the development and production of programming for the first-run syndication marketplace since its inception more than a decade ago. While continuing to specialize in reality and reality-based series, the company has expanded its activities to include all broadcast media (network, first-run syndication and cable) and all day parts (daytime, primetime, access and late-night) and become a major primetime supplier of reality programming.
