(May 20, 2002 - New York, NY) - Veteran television producer Bridget Potter has been named executive producer of “The Caroline Rhea Show,” the continuation of the talk/variety franchise created and established by Rosie O’Donnell and Telepictures Productions, it was announced today by Jim Paratore, President, Telepictures Productions and Executive Vice President, Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution. Potter has worked on a wide variety of television series, telefilms and mini-series in a variety of capacities. She spent three years at NBC Entertainment, serving as Senior Vice President, Entertainment Programs, East Coast, with responsibility for “Saturday Night Live” and “Late Night with Conan O’Brien.” She also developed the primetime series “Lateline,” supervised NBC Entertainment’s involvement in CNBC and NBC Europe, and served as Acting Senior Vice President, Primetime Programming, CNBC. Before NBC, Potter developed the Emmy Award-winning “From the Earth to the Moon” (as an executive producer) and the highly acclaimed “Oz” (as a supervising producer) for HBO after spending 13 years at the network as Senior Vice President, Original Programming. While at HBO, she created the network’s original programming model and oversaw all aspects of original programming, including music, comedy, drama, documentaries and family-oriented fare. She also oversaw H.I.P., the network’s West Coast production company and HBO Downtown Productions, the company’s New York-based production operation. Through H.I.P. and HBO Downtown, Potter launched the long-running primetime series “Martin” and the late night talk show “Politically Incorrect,” respectively. “We’re thrilled to have someone of Bridget’s experience and stature as the executive producer,” said Paratore. “Most people don’t know that Bridget started out in daytime television on ‘The Mike Douglas Show’ and recently spent three years as the executive in charge of ‘Conan.’ So she knows the audience and the genre in addition to being one of the most successful entertainment executives in the business. She has the skills to produce the show and the contacts to book it.” Retaining the proven format of its predecessor and tailored to showcase Caroline’s unique and accessible point of view and comedic style, “The Caroline Rhea Show” will bring viewers everything they’ve come to expect and love as Rosie passes the baton to Caroline. The series will embody all of the traditions and high production values that made “The Rosie O’Donnell Show” a success and an Emmy Award winner season after season, including fun and revealing celebrity interviews, audience interaction, musical performances and humorous and heartwarming human interest stories. “The Caroline Rhea Show” is produced by Travail D’Amour Productions, Inc. in association with Telepictures Productions and is distributed by Warner Bros.
