Warner Bros. International Branded Services Launches New UK SVOD Movie Service
(May 4, 2010 – London and Burbank, CA) – Warner Bros. International Branded Services today announced the UK launch of WarnerFilms, a new subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) service featuring theatrical motion pictures from Warner Bros. Entertainment that debuts on BT Vision this week. The announcement was made by Malcolm Dudley-Smith, Executive Vice President–Business Management, Warner Bros. International Branded Services, and Marc Watson, Chief Executive, BT Vision.
Offering a great selection of recent movies and titles from the Studio’s vast collection, WarnerFilms joins BT Vision’s Film Club pack, a new extension of its existing SVOD movie offering. The WarnerFilms service will deliver around-the-clock, on-demand access to 28 movies each month, with seven new pictures added every week. Titles will include:
• “GoodFellas,” directed by Martin Scorsese and starring Robert DeNiro, Ray Liotta, Joe Pesci (who won the supporting actor Oscar® for his performance), Lorraine Bracco and Paul Sorvino
• “Zodiac,” directed by David Fincher and starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Mark Ruffalo, Robert Downey Jr. and Anthony Edwards
• “Training Day,” directed by Antoine Fuqua and starring Oscar® winner Denzel Washington and nominee Ethan Hawke
• “Superman,” directed by Richard Donner and starring Christopher Reeve, Marlon Brando, Gene Hackman, Ned Beatty, Margot Kidder and more
• “Cats & Dogs,” starring Jeff Goldblum and Elizabeth Perkins, and featuring the voices of Tobey Maguire, Alec Baldwin, Sean Hayes, Susan Sarandon, Joe Pantoliano, Michael Clarke Duncan and Jon Lovitz
The launch of WarnerFilms in the UK follows in the successful footsteps of WarnerTV, an SVOD TV service that launched in the UK in November 2007 and is now operating on BT Vision, Virgin Media, Top Up TV, Talk Talk TV and 3 (mobile) in the UK, and on 20 other platforms in 15 European territories.
“Back in 2007, BT Vision was one of the founding partners for our WarnerTV SVOD service, so it’s fitting that three years later we’re working with them again on the UK launch of WarnerFilms. This exciting new service gives consumers another way to access our world-class content at the touch of a button, 24 hours a day,” said Dudley-Smith.
“One thing you can be sure of with Warner Bros. is quality, so we’re thrilled that WarnerFilms can be part of the launch plans for the new BT Vision Film Club. Now our subscribers have a much greater choice of movies to choose from,” added Watson.
BT Vision customers can subscribe to WarnerFilms for as little as £4.99 per month or as part of the new Film Club pack for £6.99 per month, or as an option in BT Vision’s Bronze, Silver and Gold viewing packages.
