Warner Bros. Pictures Germany Receives 10 Lola Awards, Germany’s Highest Film Honor
(July 11, 2005 - Burbank, CA) – Four films produced or distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures Germany have received a combined total of 10 Lola Film Awards, a German Cultural Award, including a Best Picture award for “Alles Auf Zucker” (“Going for Zucker: An Unorthodox Comedy”).
The animated feature “Laura’s Star,” co-produced by Berlin-Roshkirch/Cartoon-Film and Warner Bros. Film Productions Germany, was honored with a Lola Award in the Best Children’s and Adolescents’ Picture category.
Three films distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures Germany were also rewarded: the comedy “Alles Auf Zucker” emerged as the leader, winning six of its 10 nominations, including Best Picture, Best Director (Dani Levy), Best Actor (Henry Hübchen), Best Script (Holger Franke), Best Costume Design (Lucie Bates) and Best Music (Niki Reiser); “Agnes Und Seine Brüder” (“Agnes and Her Brothers”), the Oskar Roeler family drama, received a Lola for Best Supporting Actress (Katja Riemann); and Marc Rothemund’s biographical feature “Sophie Scholl” about a Nazi resistance member received Silver Lolas in Best Picture and Best Actress (Julia Jentsch) categories.
The Lola Awards were presented on July 8 in Berlin, marking the first time in its 55 year history that winners were selected by the members of the German Film Academy.
