Warner Bros. Pictures Joins Forces With Heineken In High-Profile Ad Campaign For New Thriller, “Swordfish”
(May 9, 2001 – Burbank, CA) – Warner Bros. Pictures will launch a far-reaching multi-million-dollar promotional partnership with Heineken USA Inc., the nation’s largest beer importer, for the upcoming action thriller “Swordfish,” due in theaters nationwide June 8th. The announcement was made jointly today by Erin Corbett, Vice President, Domestic Theatrical Promotions, Warner Bros. Pictures, and Steve Davis, Senior Vice President, Marketing, Heineken USA, Inc.
“Swordfish” stars John Travolta, Hugh Jackman and Halle Berry will appear in character on Heineken television ads featuring clips from the film, lend their likenesses to high-visibility Heineken point-of-sale displays and participate in radio spots, debuting May 15 across the country. Heineken will also sponsor radio station ticket giveaways for local screenings and tie in with the Warner Bros. Pictures field publicity and promotional events in local markets.
“Swordfish,” a dark, counter-espionage action thriller about power, money, sacrifice and 21st century breaking and entering, is produced by Joel Silver (“The Matrix”) and Jonathan D. Krane (“Face/Off”).
Heineken International will also participate in the “Swordfish” program, mounting campaigns in Latin America, the Caribbean, Europe and parts of Asia.

Warner Bros. Pictures presents, in association with Village Roadshow Pictures and NPV Entertainment, a Silver Pictures/Jonathan D. Krane Production, starring John Travolta, Hugh Jackman, Halle Berry, Don Cheadle, Vinnie Jones and Sam Shepard. The film is directed by Dominic Sena and produced by Joel Silver and Jonathan D. Krane, co-produced by Dan Cracchiolo and written by Skip Woods. The director of photography is Paul Cameron; production designer is Jeff Mann; and editor is Stephen Rivkin, A.C.E. Music is by Christopher Young and Paul Oakenfold. “Swordfish” will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, an AOL Time Warner Company, and in select territories by Village Roadshow Pictures.
Although this film is not yet rated, Warner Bros. Pictures anticipates it will receive an R rating and is marketing accordingly.
