Warner Bros. Pictures Names Con Gornell Senior Vice President, European Marketing - Conor Nolan And Armin Schneider Promoted To Vice Presidents
(October 1, 2001 - Burbank, CA) - Warner Bros. Pictures’ international marketing division has promoted three key executives: Con Gornell has been named Senior Vice President, European Theatrical Marketing, Conor Nolan moves up to Vice President European Promotions and Special Events, and Armin Schneider has been named Vice President, European Publicity. These promotions were announced today by Sue Kroll, President, International Marketing, Warner Bros. Pictures.
As Senior Vice President, European Theatrical Marketing, Warner Bros. Pictures, Gornell will oversee and manage the day-to-day marketing operations in Europe. He will be supervising all aspects of a diverse number of projects, as well as supervise a London-based staff and all regional marketing activities.
Nolan, as the newly named Vice President, European Promotions and Special Events, Warner Bros. Pictures is charged with designing and executing regional promotional programs to add value and extend marketing awareness for the division’s theatrical releases in Europe. He’ll also develop and supervise inter-company tie-in efforts, as well as third-party promotional liaisons, partner sponsorships and new media promotional opportunities. He will also oversee regionally based special events.
In his new post as Vice President, European Publicity, Warner Bros. Pictures, Schneider will develop and execute local market trade and consumer publicity strategies, initiating and supervising all campaigns out of Warner Bros.’ London office. He’ll also work with local territory managers on in-country publicity campaigns for all of Warner Bros. Pictures’ European theatrical films, local market acquisitions and co-productions.

Gornell most recently served as Vice President, European Marketing, Warner Bros. Pictures in London, having joined Warner Bros. in September 1997 as Vice President, European Media. Previously, he was in charge of the Warner Bros. Pictures account at Grey London for five years, where he served as media director. During his career, Gornell has worked for a number of top London advertising agencies including Bartle Bogle Hegarty, Carat and W.P.P.
Nolan joined Warner Bros. in March 1996 as Category Head, Promotions in the Consumer Products division where he oversaw the hugely successful campaign for the launch of “Space Jam” across Europe in conjunction with McDonald’s, Kellogg’s and Danone. In June 1997, he transferred to the European Theatrical Distribution group as European Promotions Director, where he was responsible for a number of high profile consumer promotions in conjunction with major companies such as Nokia (for “The Matrix”) and Burger King (for “Wild Wild West”). Nolan previously worked as a marketing director at EMI Records and as promotions manager at Twentieth Century Fox.
Schneider transfered from Germany to the UK in December 1997 to become Director, European Publicity, Warner Bros. Pictures, where he supervised a number of European publicity tours, including “The Matrix,” “Wild Wild West” and “The Perfect Storm.” Prior to that, he worked for several years at Warner Bros. Pictures in Germany in various posts, including Publicity Manager in Hamburg, where he oversaw the publicity activities for all Warner Bros. films, including a number of German productions like the critically acclaimed “The Deathmaker” and the successful family entertainment films “The Story of Monty Spinnerratz” and “The Fearless Four.” # # #
