Warner Home Video Brings Rare, Award-Winning Animated Shorts To DVD With The Release Of “Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Presents: Academy Award® Animation Collection 15 Winners ~ 26 Nominees”
(November 28, 2007 - Burbank, CA) – The Oscar® goes to Warner Bros. Home Entertainment for releasing a dazzling collection of some of the finest Academy Award® winning animated shorts on DVD this February 12, 2008. Titled "Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Presents: Academy Award® Animation Collection 15 Winners ~ 26 Nominees," this remarkable title will showcase some of the very best Academy Award® winning and nominated shorts, some of which have never been available on DVD before. Released in time for Valentine’s Day, this sweetheart of a collection will leave animation lovers smitten with its three-disc set. "Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Presents: Academy Award® Animation Collection 15 Winners ~ 26 Nominees" will retail at $44.98 SRP. In addition to the three-disc set, WHV will also release a DVD featuring the 15 winning cartoons only. Titled "Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Presents: Academy Award® Animation Collection 15 Winners," this DVD will retail for $19.98 SRP. Order due date for both titles has been set for January 8, 2008.
Some of animation’s most popular characters including Superman, Popeye, Bugs Bunny, Droopy, Tom, Jerry, Speedy Gonzalez as well as Dot, Line & Squiggle and others are the superstars of these exciting new DVD releases, which feature many of Warner Bros. crown jewel theatrical Academy Award® winning and nominated shorts. This is the first time Warner Bros. is featuring cartoon characters from various franchises including Merrie Melodies, Hanna-Barbera, MGM, Max Fleischer, Warner Bros. and others in one release. These DVDs will be released in conjunction with two very important Hollywood anniversaries; Warner Bros. celebration of the studio’s 85th year and the Academy Awards ® marking their 80th ceremony.
Academy Award® winning shorts featured on the DVDs include "The Milky Way," "Yankee Doodle Mouse," "Mouse Trouble," "Quiet Please," "The Cat Concerto," "Tweetie Pie," "The Little Orphan," "For Scent-Imental Reasons," "So Much for so Little," "Two Mouseketeers," "Johann Mouse," "Speedy Gonzales," "Birds Anonymous," "Knighty-Knight Bugs" as well as "The Dot and the Line."
"Warner Bros. Presents: Academy Award® Animation Collection 15 Winners ~ 26 Nominees" will include a red carpet-worthy special feature entitled "Drawn for Glory: Animation’s Triumph At The Oscars®" which focuses on the history of the Academy Awards® animation short subject category.
