Warner Home Video Presents The Animated Film “Laura’s Star” On DVD
(May 30, 2006 - Burbank, CA) – Kids everywhere will learn how to adjust, make new friends, and discover that change can be good when Warner Home Video (WHV) presents the animated film "Laura’s Star" on DVD September 26, 2006. Priced at $14.98 SRP, the order due date has been set for August 22, 2006.
Based on Klaus Baumgart’s popular children’s book of the same name, "Laura’s Star" follows a young girl, Laura, who feels very alone when her family moves from the countryside to the big city due to her mother’s new job. On her first night in the new, strange surroundings, Laura has trouble sleeping and witnesses a shooting star fall from the sky. When she runs to find it, she discovers the star has broken its leg, so Laura mends it the only way she knows how – by use of a band aid. With its leg newly reattached, the star begins scattering stardust around Laura’s bedroom which brings all her toys to life! Through her newfound friendship with this magical star, Laura slowly learns how to adjust to her new surroundings and make new friends and in the process discovers that change can be good.
“'Laura’s Star' is a touching animated children’s film, full of imagination and charm,” commented Dorinda Marticorena, WHV Vice President, Kids and Sports Marketing. She added, “German directors Thilo Gruf Rothkirch and Piet de Rycker, who also brought us 'The Little Polar Bear,' did a remarkable job turning this widely popular German picture book into an accessible film for children and grown ups alike tackling themes such as embracing life’s changes, making new friends, and learning to adjust to new surroundings. We are delighted to bring this beautiful story to audiences in the US.”
"Laura’s Star" was released in theaters in Europe to high critical acclaim. The film won numerous awards including the Adults Jury Price, Animation, at the 2005 Chicago International Children’s Film Festival, a Lola for Outstanding Children or Youth Film Award at the 2005 German Film Awards, and was nominated for Best Film at the 2005 Carrousel International du Film.
