The WB Names Nancie S. Martin Senior Vice President, New Media
(October 20, 2000 – Burbank, CA) – Nancie S. Martin has been named Senior Vice President, New Media of The WB, it was announced today by network CEO Jamie Kellner.
Ms. Martin was originally brought in to develop The WB’s Internet strategy and will now oversee the implementation of the plan. Ms. Martin is responsible for its web sites and new media initiatives, including TheWB.com and KidsWB.com. She will report directly to Mr. Kellner.
Previously, Ms. Martin was President of PlanetGirl.com, an online network for teen girls. Before that, she was Director of Online Content for toy manufacturer, Mattel, where she made Barbie.com the #1 web site for girls 6-12 and led the development of My Design, where consumers were able to design a doll exclusively on the Internet. As Mattel’s Director of Software Development, she executive-produced and launched numerous award-winning, top-selling products, including Barbie Fashion Designer, the break-frame title many credit with opening the girls’ software category. Previous to her arrival at Mattel in 1995, Martin produced several award-winning entertainment CD-ROMs, consulted to Fortune 500 companies on interactive strategy, and was Editor-In-Chief of a wide range of mass-market magazines.
“Nancie is a perfect fit for The WB,” Mr. Kellner said. “In her previous positions, she targeted many of the same people The WB reaches today. Our viewers are young, upscale and Internet savvy. Advertisers want more contact points with these consumers and TheWB.com’s goal is to provide them. Our sponsors and our viewers expect us to deliver on the Internet.”
Said Ms. Martin: “I’m thrilled to be part of The WB team. This network truly understands the audience that is the future of entertainment, and is the ideal place to make that future happen.”
