The WB Picks Up “Nikki” For Entire Season
(November 2, 2000 – Burbank, CA) – The WB Network has ordered the back nine episodes of its first-year blue-collar-relationship comedy, “NIKKI,” it was announced today by Susanne Daniels, President, Entertainment. It was the first official pick-up of the 2000-2001 season for The WB.
“NIKKI,” a Warner Bros. comedy from Bruce Helford, starring Nikki Cox and newcomer Nick Von Esmarch, has shown growth in all of the network’s key demos, despite airing in the tough Sunday, 9:00-9:30 p.m. ET time period. Beginning this week, “NIKKI” will be moved up a half-hour to 9:00-9:30 p.m. ET.
This past Sunday “NIKKI,” which features the eclectic coupling of a Las Vegas dancer and a professional wrestler with a meddling mother-in-law tossed in for good measure, scored its best-ever ratings in all female demos from 12-34 such as women 18-34 (1.6/4), women 12-34 (2,0/6), female teens (3.1/10). Through four weeks it has exceeded last year’s time-period average in all male demos -- +113% in men 18-34, +111% in men 12-34, +95% in men 18-49, and +102% in male teens. It has also improved the time period in adults 18-49.
“We believe with Bruce Helford at the helm and Nikki Cox as the star, ‘NIKKI’ will be an important comedy for us for many years,” Ms. Daniels said. “It’s already helped us balance our Sunday audience between men and women and improved its time period in all male demos including +113% in 18-34 and that growth will increase as the season progresses.” # # #
