WBTV's "Lucifer" to Premiere on August 31 at 9pm on FOX UK
Also starring Lauren German (“Chicago Fire”), Kevin Alejandro (“Southland,” “True Blood”), DB Woodside (“Suits,” “24”), Lesley-Ann Brandt (“The Librarians”), Scarlett Estevez (“Daddy’s Home”) and Rachael Harris (“The Hangover”), the series — from Jerry Bruckheimer Television in association with Warner Bros. Television, has its television premiere on Thursday August 31 at 9pm on FOX.
Toby Etheridge, Head of Programming, Fox Networks Group UK, commented: “‘Lucifer’ is ridiculously entertaining; part supernatural drama, part police procedural, part dark comedy; the series takes everything we think we know about the world’s greatest villain and flips it upside down. British actor Tom Ellis is having the time of his life playing the Lord of Hell, and so will our viewers with the television premiere of ‘Lucifer’ on FOX.”
Bored and unhappy in Hell, Lucifer Morningstar (Ellis) has resigned his throne and retired to the City of Angels, where he owns an upscale piano bar. Devilishly handsome and charismatic, he has a talent for drawing out people’s darkest secrets. When the brutal murder of an acquaintance attracts the attention of LAPD homicide detective Chloe Decker (German), he is hell-bent on helping her find the perpetrators, and discovers a passion for punishing the guilty here on earth.
Initially dismissive of Lucifer, Chloe becomes intrigued when she sees him in action. But Chloe’s soon-to-be ex-husband and colleague on the police force, Dan (Alejandro), is wary of Lucifer’s intentions, especially when their young daughter, Trixie (Estevez), takes a liking to him.
As Lucifer’s interest in Chloe’s cases grows, so does his curiosity about her. Of all the people he’s encountered, she’s the only one who isn’t affected by his devilish ways. And while working with her, he feels something awaken deep within him…for the first time in roughly 10 billion years, Compassion? Sympathy? The very thought disturbs him – enough to seek out the guidance of a therapist, Linda Martin (Harris).
At the same time, God’s emissary, the angel Amenadiel (Woodside), has been sent to Los Angeles to convince Lucifer to return to Hell. But with the City of Angels at his feet and a newfound purpose, Lucifer’s having too much fun to go back now.
Based upon the characters created by Neil Gaiman, Sam Kieth and Mike Dringenberg for DC Entertainment’s Vertigo imprint, “Lucifer” is produced by Jerry Bruckheimer Television in association with Warner Bros. Television. Tom Kapinos (“Californication”) wrote and executive-produced the pilot and serves as executive consultant on the series. Jerry Bruckheimer (“CSI” franchise, “Pirates of the Caribbean” films), Jonathan Littman (“CSI” franchise, “The Amazing Race”), Joe Henderson (“White Collar,” “Almost Human”) and Ildy Modrovich (“Forever,” “Necessary Roughness”) are executive producers on the series alongside director Len Wiseman (“Underworld” films). The series distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. International Television Distribution.
Don’t miss “Lucifer,” Thursday, August 31 at 9pm on FOX.
