(October 1, 2009 – Burbank, CA) – The world’s most famous dog, Scooby-Doo, has joined forces with The Dog Whisperer, Cesar Millan to find the next four-legged superstar in the “National Spokesdog Competition,” an educational campaign focusing on the importance of spaying and neutering dogs and adopting homeless animals from shelters. Cesar Millan, star of the Emmy-nominated TV series “Dog Whisperer with Cesar Millan,” launched the competition, an online photo contest at www.nationalspokesdog.org, where celebrity judges, including Scooby-Doo and star of “The Biggest Loser” Jillian Michaels, will select contest winners. The Grand Prize winning Spokesdog will star with Cesar in the Millan Foundation’s 2010 Public Service Announcement education campaign. “We’ve created a contest to search for America’s top dogs to help us communicate the importance of spaying and neutering to prevent homeless animals. I am thrilled to have a dog superstar like Scooby-Doo and an animal lover like Jillian Michaels to help us choose America’s next dog star, while educating about responsible animal ownership,” states Cesar. The most recognized dog in the world, Scooby-Doo, just celebrated his 40th birthday with Cesar Millan in September. The duo’s shared birthday celebration at the East Valley Animal Shelter in Los Angeles was an opportunity for Scooby and Cesar to promote the adoption of homeless animals from shelters everywhere. “Pairing the world’s favorite Great Dane with a revered dog expert like Cesar makes for the perfect partnership, and we look forward to a long and continued relationship between these two icons,” said Karen McTier, Executive Vice President of Domestic Licensing and Worldwide Marketing, Warner Bros. Consumer Products. Considered one of the most inspiring people on television for her role as trainer and life coach on the NBC hit series “The Biggest Loser,” each week Jillian Michaels motivates nearly 15 million TV viewers. Michaels is an important fixture in American television as one of the leading health and wellness experts in the country. Season 6 of “Dog Whisperer with Cesar Millan” will premiere an episode that spotlights Jillian, her horse Buzz, and her dog Seven, who has an affinity for horse biting. The National Spokesdog Competition will also select several finalists in the categories of Best Pack, Most Outrageous Feat, Best Camera Face and Most Hilarious Costume. Each category winner will receive a shopping spree at PETCO, along with a gift card to CesarMillanInc.com and an autographed copy of Cesar's newest DVD, Common Canine Misbehaviors, which will release on November 1. For a suggested donation of $5 to the Millan Foundation, anyone can upload their favorite dog photo and bio at www.nationalspokesdog.org. Then family, friends, and neighbors can donate $1 to vote for their favorite dog on-line. This unique competition will benefit the Cesar and Ilusion Millan Foundation’s programs to rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home abused and abandoned dogs.
