Jon Berg and Courtenay Valenti Promoted to Executive Vice President, Development and Production, Warner Bros. Pictures
(March 4, 2014 – Burbank, CA) – Jon Berg and Courtenay Valenti have been promoted to Executive Vice President, Development and Production, Warner Bros. Pictures, it was announced today by Greg Silverman, President, Creative Development and Worldwide Production, Warner Bros. Pictures, to whom both will directly report.
In their expanded roles, Valenti, who has been with the studio for 25 years, and Berg, who joined in 2008, will assume immediate oversight and management of Warner Bros. Pictures’ development team and budget, in addition to their current duties. Silverman, who reports directly to Warner Bros.’ CEO, retains responsibility for overall slate development and execution for the division, as well as cross-divisional and companywide initiatives originating from Warner Bros. Pictures.
“Courtenay and Jon are hands down two of the best executives in the industry, with impeccable creative sensibilities and a real love of films and filmmaking,” said Silverman. “Courtenay has deep ties to the Warner Bros. family, and throughout her tenure has worked on some of our most successful and critically acclaimed films. During her many years at the studio, Valenti has supervised a wide variety films, including “The Lego Movie” from directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller, the last four films in the blockbuster Harry Potter series, the Academy Award-winning “Happy Feet,” Baz Luhrmann’s “The Great Gatsby,” “A Little Princess,” “Contact,” “You’ve Got Mail” and “Message in a Bottle.” Upcoming feature films that she is supervising include George Miller’s “Mad Max: Fury Road,” “Focus,” from directors John Requa and Glenn Ficarra, “The Judge,” from director David Dobkin, and “The Intern” from director Nancy Meyers.
Since joining Warner Bros., Berg has shepherded several key films, including the Sherlock Holmes franchise, the billion-dollar global blockbuster “The Dark Knight Rises,” Best Picture Academy Award-winner “Argo” and “The Blind Side.” He is currently supervising “Edge of Tomorrow,” “Jersey Boys,” “Run All Night,” “Inherent Vice,” “Entourage,” “Midnight Special,” and “American Sniper.” Before his role at Warner Bros., Berg produced “Elf” and “Starship Dave,” and was an executive producer on “Out of Time” through production shingle Guy Walks into a Bar.
