Academy Award-Winning Actress Sally Field To Guest Star On “ER”
(August 14, 2000 – Burbank, CA) - Multiple award-winning actress Sally Field is set to appear on “ER,” it was announced today by the series’ executive producers John Wells and Jack Orman. Field will appear in six episodes of the critically-acclaimed series, portraying the mother of Abby Lockhart (Maura Tierney).
“We are delighted that Ms. Field will be joining us on ‘ER,’” stated Wells and Orman. “She is an incredible talent and we’re very excited that she will be joining us.”
Field was recently nominated for an Emmy Award for her role as Iris Prue in the Showtime movie “A Cooler Climate.” She received two Academy Awards for her outstanding performances in “Norma Rae” and “Places in the Heart” and was awarded an Emmy for her portrayal of Sybil in the 1977 made-for-television movie of the same name. Field, who will be making her directorial debut in September on the feature film “Beautiful” starring Minnie Driver, can also be seen in the upcoming movie “Say It Isn’t So.”
Field’s first three episodes will air in November. She will return for three additional episodes in the spring.
